Kyiv to the countryside, measured before you book

Every shared departure starts in Kyiv and returns on Sunday evening. The distances and travel times below are the ones we actually drive, taken from the timings printed on each route page.

A two-day escape only works when the group stays small, the price is written out in full before payment, and the people showing you around actually live there. That is how every shared departure is built.

    A maximum of ten travellers per shared departure, and a departure runs once the minimum group of four is reached. If the minimum is missed we tell you at least five days before the date and return your deposit in full.

    Hosts are named

    Every overnight and every tasting belongs to a host you can look up before you travel. Oksana Petrenko in Kryvorivnia has run the cheese-making visit with us for four seasons; Mykola Havryliuk in Svaliava cooks the trout supper.

04 · Itinerary

Two days, one night, times you can plan around

Every shared departure follows the same published rhythm. Meeting time, meals and the Sunday return are fixed before you pay a deposit, so you can tell your family exactly when you are back.

    The minibus waits at 12 Khreshchatyk Street from 07:15 and leaves at 07:30.

    Arrival and welcome tea

    Meet your host in the village, drop the bags, and sit down with bread from the morning bake.

    Cheese-making visit

    Two hours at a working family farm: the morning vat, the press, and a tasting of four cheeses.

    Lunch at the farm table

    Borsch, buckwheat with mushrooms, a seasonal salad and compote from last summer's fruit.

    Horse ride along the river terrace

    Sixty minutes at walking pace with a local handler. Beginners are welcome and helmets are provided.

    The minibus leaves the village square with one comfort stop on the road.

    Arrival at the same Khreshchatyk Street address. Sunday traffic can add twenty minutes.

Saturday lunch is taken at the farm where the cheese visit happens, not at a restaurant in town.

We start the cheese at seven, while the milk is still warm. Guests stir the curd, press the wheel and carry it home in a cloth bag. Nobody leaves without understanding why the brine matters.

The ride up to the pasture takes fifty minutes. We stop where the herd actually is, not where the path ends. If the fog rolls in, we come down early and the brynza tasting moves inside the barn.

The stove needs two hours before it is hot enough, so hrechanyky are a Sunday morning job. Guests roll their own, and the bee-yard visit happens while the dough rests.

More than 14 days before departure the deposit is refunded in full, 14 to 7 days it is kept as credit toward another weekend, and inside 7 days it is non-refundable. Ask about a date that is not listed here.
